I am not of Scandanavian ancestry myself, but my husband's mother was 110% Swedish American, her parents having emigated to the San Francisco Area from the Varmland region of Sweden in the early 20th century. Some of my painted objects depict images inspired by the decorative tin plates that my husband inherited from her.
Though I've been interested in art for as long as I can remember, I didn't begin painting until my retirement from teaching in 2006. My love of traditional literature and folk cultures finds its way into my art in the form of images referencing old rhymes and stories, costumes, and holiday customs from many areas of Europe.
Items currently offered for sale are pictured on the page entitled "What's New." All other items are already sold, but I hope that they serve as an inspiration for a special order, painted and personalized per your specifications.
Most of the wood products I use are readily available, but some are from antique shops and I might not be able to duplicate them exactly.
If you are interested in purchasing a completed piece or in commissioning a special order, please call me at 810-694-9381 or 810-610-2466.
